Des Moines girl coming home to perform in ‘Billy Elliot’

DES MOINES — Madison Barnes, 13, of Altoona, who was Annie in 2009 at the Des Moines Playhouse, will be returning to Des Moines with the cast of “Billy Elliot: The Musical” in June 2012.

Madison has been in the show since it opened in Chicago in March of 2010 and then moved to Toronto with the show. Now she is with the touring production. She had performed in mroe than 700 shows since she started as Keeley Gibson, a ballet girl, and also as gone on as the understudy of the principal ballet girl, Debbie, who is Mrs. Wilkinson’s daughter and Billy’s ballet teacher.

She is excited to be able to perform in front of her family and friends who have supported her.
