The Mad Maggies of San Francisco to perform at BrewNost

CEDAR RAPIDS — Seven musicians from the San Francisco bay area will perform at BrewNost, on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, beginning at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 950 Rockford Rd. SW.

Dubbed “a dash of hot pepper and a swig of slivovitz,” the group is of the folk fusion genre that presents Celtic rock, Cajun/ Zydeco, swing and polka and more. The Mad Maggies began in 2004 when accordionist Maggie Martin gathered a few musicians to record an album. Since that time they’ve recorded four CDs, but are most known for their dance appeal for all ages.
Tickets for BrewNost are on sale now. This fund-raising event to support the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library also features a tasting of international beers and wine along with savory d’oeuvres prepared by area chefs.

Tickets are $70 at the door or $60 in advance www.NCSML.org  or  (319) 362-8500.
