Matthew 25 Tool Library partners with Kirkwood to offer drywall class

CEDAR RAPIDS – The Matthew 25 Tool Library will host a class with the assistance of the Kirkwood Continuing Education program. The class, Drywall: Tools and Methods, will include hands-on demonstrations including hanging sheetrock, mixing mud, corner bead installation and bedding tape. Patching holes and troubleshooting drywall finishes will also be demonstrated. The class will be led by Bryan Bredman of Shueyville. Brian has extensive experience in home repair and teaching home repair and maintenance classes.

Three sessions will take place at the Matthew 25 Tool Library and workshop space located in the former Hubbard Ice Building, 225 K Ave. SW, Suite. G. The first session will be held July 19 and 21 and the second session is Sept. 6 and 8. All classes will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost for each session is $29 and can be paid through Kirkwood’s Continuing Education Registration website.

“Our partnership with Kirkwood allows us to offer our convenient location and access to our tools and workshop space while Kirkwood provides an experienced instructor and registration system,” says Katie Hackbarth, Tool Library manager. “We look forward to many other projects with Kirkwood in our workshop.”

The Matthew 25 Tool Library is a program of the Matthew 25 Ministry Hub. The mission of the
Tool Library is to provide Cedar Rapids area residents with affordable access to the tools and
skills they need to repair, remodel and maintain their homes. The Tool Library has an extensive
inventory of hand and power tools for various home maintenance and lawn and garden projects.
Membership in the library is open to Cedar Rapids area residents for a sliding scale fee based
on household size and income. Monthly memberships are also available as are memberships for
non-profit organizations and volunteer groups.

Matthew 25 Ministry Hub is a 501(c)3 organization in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The mission of Matthew 25 is to unite, empower, and change lives.
