Middle East expert will give talk on Egypt Feb. 22

The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council (ICFRC) will welcome Brian Katulis, an expert on U.S. national security policy in the Middle East, for a lecture on Egypt and current events in the Middle East. The talk, “Implications for America’s Broader Policies in the Middle East,” will begin at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the Social Hall of the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert in Iowa City. The event is free and open to the public with an RSVP required at http://conta.cc/dUSESF.

An optional lunch will be catered by Oasis at a cost of $8 for ICFRC members and $9 for nonmembers. Luncheon reservations are due by noon on Monday, Feb. 21.

Katulis will share insights on the recent events in Egypt as well as what the next steps for the U.S., and more specifically the Obama administration, should be. He is a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. He lived and in worked in Egypt from 1995 to 1998.
